Position:          Collection System Technician

Department:    Wastewater Treatment Plant

Salary:              $14.20 -16.56/hr. DOE

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Monitors collection system performance.  Completes line locates as requested by the community and contractors. On call for emergency line locates during plant hours and emergency sewer back-ups. Operates high velocity sewer cleaner/vacuum truck and camera inspection equipment. Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual maintenance as assigned or scheduled. Views videos of collection system and enters data on computer using Hansen software. Checks lubricates, maintains and makes minor repairs and adjustments on pumps, mechanical equipment, and other related equipment within the Collection system. Performs general custodial and some maintenance work.

 Job Specification: Requires previous experience at a wastewater treatment plant or with a sewage collection system and knowledge of procedures used in sampling and handling of field samples.  Must have or be able to obtain a Class I Idaho Collections license within six (6) mos. Position requires a HS diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license/good driving record with Class B CDL License and ability to lift 50 lbs; work all shifts including weekends and holidays;  knowledge with computers using Windows and Excel. Requires ability to maintain Collection system Operation logs; ability to work as a team player and communicate with management, supervisors and co-workers with respect in a pleasant, courteous manner.  Must have integrity in the performance of assigned tasks; keep excellent records; work effectively with mechanical equipment with ability to recognize equipment failure and to act in an emergency; skill in use of hand tools and equipment.  Must be able to work unsupervised in the operation and care of machinery and mechanical devices, electric equipment.  Performs other related duties.
