The Meridian Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic and Firefighter/EMT. Preference will be given to those Paramedics and EMT's who are currently certified minimally as Firefighter I or higher. Our immediate need is to hire one (1) Firefighter/Paramedic. The testing date has not been determined, as yet. And, this will be a combined written and CPAT testing for both Paramedics and EMT's for MERIDIAN FIRE DEPARTMENT AND NAMPA FIRE DEPARTMENT. A joint eligibility list of qualified applicants will be maintained for 12 months following the testing process. Applicants for Paramedic must be nationally registered OR Idaho certified as a paramedic; FF1 experience preferred.
Job Summary: This is an entry-level fire suppression position in the Meridian Fire Department for a Paramedic or EMT. The primary function of a firefighter is directed towards service to and interaction with the public and the community of Meridian City & rural areas. An employee in this class works with a variety of fire apparatus and equipment while responding to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials and other emergency and non-emergency situations. The work does involve an element of personal danger and an employee in this class must be able to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. Other responsibilities include performing various staff support assignments. Employees may be expected to drive and operate various fire apparatus. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Fire Captain, but leeway is given to exercise independent judgment.
Essential Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and current Paramedic or EMT certification in the State of Idaho or National Registry. Firefighter I or higher certification is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record. Final candidates must successfully pass written and physical agility tests, an oral interview, a medical/psychological evaluation and a criminal background check.

Salary: $39,867.78 entry per year (EMT) +$400 monthly for
