Transportation Funding
The rapid growth of the past decade has brought many opportunities to the area, but it has also created certain challenges with which communities and decision makers continue to wrestle. One such challenge is the Treasure Valley’s transportation system, which has not kept pace with the increase in residents and visitors to the area. The agencies responsible for designing and constructing road projects, Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and Ada County Highway District (ACHD), are exploring different strategies for bringing the regional transportation system up to speed. In addition, Valley Regional Transit (VRT) is considering ways in which it can increase funding in order to provide a more comprehensive public transit system throughout the region.
This page identifies some of the strategies that are currently being considered. Most of the possible strategies require a change at the legislative level, so appropriate contact information is provided should users wish to provide input.
