Transportation Partners

Unlike other parts of the country, in Ada County municipalities do not build or maintain roads. Construction and maintenance of the area’s transportation system is primarily the responsibility of the Ada County Highway District (ACHD; which is responsible for local roads) and Idaho Transportation Department (ITD; which is responsible for state and interstate highways). The City enjoys a high level of communication and cooperation with these two transportation entities in matters of planning and project coordination.

In addition, certain elements of transportation planning and coordination in the area are managed by Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS; responsible for regional transportation and air quality planning).

Public transportation services in the Treasure Valley are provided by Valley Regional Transit.
