Question:
Where are you located?
Answer:
We are at 660 E Watertower. The two story building on the corner of Watertower and Stratford.Coming into Meridian on 1st st, Watertower is between Dairy Queen and Zamzows. If you are coming in on Franklin, Stratford is on your left just past the cemetery.
Question:
Which construction code has the City of Meridian adopted?
Answer:
The City of Meridian is currently operating under the following codes:
2006 International Building Code
2006 International Residential Code (Parts I-VI)
2006 International Energy Conservation Code
2003 International Mechanical Code & Fuel Gas Code
2003 Uniform Plumbing Code
2006 International Fire Code
2008 National Electrical Code
Question:
Do approvals and/or permits expire?
Answer:
Plan approval is valid for 180 days. If you do not pick up your permit within that 180day period or request an extension, the plans will be discarded and removed from teh databases. Once you have been issued your permit, if you do not return your official field inspection record completed and receive Substantial Letter of Compliance (SLC) for a shell only, Temp Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) or Certificate of Occupancy (CO) and the 180 days pass; the permit expires. Re-submittal and additional fees will be required.

What size plans are required for New Residential Submittal?
Answer:
The city is growing so fast and we are running out of space...As long as the plans are readable, The Building Department welcomes 11x17 residential plans.
Question:
Is a permit required for building a fence?
Answer:
YES. A permit is required to construct a new fence if not constructed under the New Residential Building permit. Please see Department File.
Question:
Is a permit required for repairing a fence?
Answer:
How much repair is needed? If you are just replacing slats here and there, NO. If you are removing whole sections, YES. Permit cost will be based on the project value.
Question:
Do I need a permit to build a shed?
Answer:
A permit is required for sheds that are 120 square feet or larger, all building setbacks must be observed and the Planning Department will be required to authorize this shed. Detattached sheds under 120 square feet are not required to have a building permit but must comply with Planning Department guidelines for location and you must maintain drainage on your own property. Do I need a barrier around my pool?
Answer:
According to the International Building Codes as adopted by the City of Meridian, there are numerous requirements. Please contact the Building Deparment Staff for assitance in regards to your specific situation.
