Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have suspended non-certified testing for the position of Patrol Officer until late winter or early spring of 2009. Job Summary: Position provides law enforcement for the City of Meridian through enforcement actions, conflict resolution, investigations, mediation, maintaining order and protection.

Job Specifications: The Meridian Police Department is currently accepting applications for entry level as well as sworn officers. Minimum requirements are 60 college credits from an accredited university or college OR four (4) years of military service with an honorable discharge. Minimum requirements for sworn officers are a basic certificate and no longer on probation. Sworn applicants from out of state must be able to become certified in Idaho within one year. Starting salary will be dependent upon the applicant’s experience and certification. Benefits include a four day, forty-hour work week, dedicated monthly training, ability to advance quickly and numerous special assignments. Benefits also include PERSI retirement, health and dental insurance, sick leave, paid holidays and vacation leave. Successful applicants will undergo and complete written testing, oral interview, medical examination, psychological evaluation, polygraph and a thorough background investigation. Applicants must also successfully complete the City of Meridian drug testing prior to employment. Applicants successfully completing one of the Idaho college law enforcement programs may also be considered.
