The Operations Division is responsible for the day to day functions of emergency services to our citizens. Members assigned to the Operations Division respond to all calls for emergency medical assistance, auto accidents, structure fires and major disasters within the City and Ada County, while providing mutual aid to surrounding communities.
The Meridian Fire District encompasses 54 square miles and is currently protected by 5 Fire Stations operating 5 Engine Companies and 1 Truck Company. These are staffed by 54 career and 15 part-time on-call firefighters. The Meridian Fire Department responds to over 4,000 calls for service annually with approximately 70 percent of the calls being EMS related. Special Operations include Hazardous Materials responses and High Angle, Water and Confined Space rescues.
In addition to responding to emergency calls, all Meridian Fire Stations also participate in a Fire Prevention Program by inspecting and pre-planning all local area businesses, apartment buildings, schools, hospitals, nursing homes etc. on an annual basis. Performing fire safety public education to our citizens, adults and children, is also a large part of the firefighter’s daily activities.
