Bulky Item Pickup and Extra Trash Service

The City of Meridian has streamlined its bulky item collection process by introducing a year-round program, eliminating the need for seasonal events such as Spring Cleanup.

This service covers single-family households that have a trash cart serviced through Republic Services.

New Service Includes

  • 10 free bulky item pickups per calendar year (limitations apply).
  • Flexibility to schedule bulky item pickups when you need it.
  • Freon™ appliance (e.g., refrigerators) removal of $68.59 is conveniently added to your utility bill.

Important Information 

  • Bulky items include large items that don’t fit in your green cart, such as couches, mattresses, appliances, and personal containers filled with extra trash bags.
  • Items must be scheduled in advance following the guidelines below. 

How it Works

  • Read the service guidelines below
  • Schedule by calling Republic Services at 208-345-1265 or online by completing the Bulky Item Form below. 
  • Mark your pick-up on your calendar. 

Guidelines

  • For pickup, place item(s) at the curb 3 ft. from other things such as waste carts or parked cars by 6 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day.
  • All 10 free pickups may be used at one time.
  • Outside of appliances and furniture, bulky items may not weigh more than 60 lbs.

NOT Accepted: *

* Please remember that rechargeable batteries can cause fires. These batteries can become damaged when compacted in the collection trash trucks and damaged batteries cause fires.  

  • All smaller items must be placed within tightly closed plastic bags and placed in a container such as a box or a personal container (personal containers will not be taken).
  • No loose plastic bags may be left out at the curb except during the Extra Trash Event» following Christmas.
  • Boxes may not exceed 30 lbs.
  • Personal containers must be smaller than 32 gals. and weigh less than 60 lbs.
  • Trash bundles must be tied together and cannot exceed 4 ft. in length nor weigh more than 30 lbs.
  • One container or bundle equals one free pickup.
  • For pickup, place item(s) at the curb 3 ft. from other things such as waste carts or parked cars by 6 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day.

NOT Accepted: *

  • Business waste
  • Construction & demolition debris
  • Electronic waste», such items as rechargeable batteries and computer items
  • Household Hazardous Waste» (e.g., mercury-containing items and chemicals)
  • Recyclable items
    • Recyclables may be brought to the Meridian Transfer Station (2130 W Franklin Rd. Meridian - enter off Benchmark Ave) for free
  • Sharp objects (e.g., broken glass and syringes)
  • Tube TVs
  • Windows and mirrors over 4 ft. long

Recycle your cardboard for free at the Meridian Transfer Station (2130 W Franklin Rd., Meridian - enter off Benchmark Ave.).

Guidelines:

  • Both large and small cardboard pieces are accepted.
  • Flatten all cardboard.
  • Remove all other materials (e.g. packing peanuts, StyrofoamTM, and plastic bags) before placing them into the recycling container.
